About Brum Tutors

My journey into teaching has been shaped by a longstanding passion for mathematics and a belief that high-quality education can genuinely transform life chances.

Before returning to the UK, I taught mathematics and physics internationally, including preparing students for GCSE and American SAT II examinations. My academic background is in engineering, which gives me strong subject knowledge and allows me to teach maths through practical, real-world applications — helping students understand not just howmaths works, but why it matters.

Since returning to the UK, I’ve built a tutoring practice supporting students of different ages, abilities and backgrounds, both face-to-face and online. That experience has strengthened my ability to identify individual learning gaps quickly and adapt lessons to suit the student — so that every learner, not just the naturally confident ones, can make meaningful progress.

I’m currently completing my PGCE with QTS at the University of Worcester, where I’ve further developed my understanding of evidence-informed teaching, behaviour management and assessment for learning, alongside practical classroom experience across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

More Than Just One Tutor

What started as an individual tutoring journey has grown into Brum Tutors — a small team of dedicated educators who share the same belief that every student deserves the right support to succeed.

Today, Brum Tutors is made up of Mohammed Eglain, Kayla and Manno, bringing together different experiences, strengths and teaching approaches while maintaining the same high standards and personal approach that the business was built on.

Mohammed Eglain specialises in mathematics tutoring across different ages and levels, with particular experience supporting students who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). He understands that students learn in different ways and that some learners need a more individualised, patient and carefully structured approach to build both understanding and confidence.

His approach focuses on identifying barriers to learning, breaking mathematical concepts into manageable steps and adapting explanations and activities to the individual learner. The aim is not simply to help students complete their work, but to help them become more confident, independent learners.

We work with students from different backgrounds and at different stages of their education, tailoring our support to their individual needs. Whether a student needs to build confidence, close gaps in their understanding, prepare for important exams or simply develop a stronger relationship with mathematics, our aim is the same: to help them make progress and feel capable of doing more.

Being a team also means we can support a wider range of learners while keeping tutoring personal. We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Every student learns differently, and effective tutoring starts with understanding the person behind the grades.
